Communications is the effective transfer of information from one person or
place to another person or place. During disasters and emergency
communications is the key to an effective response and recovery.
Communications includes the systems, and the people who operate the systems.
without the systems no communications is possible and without people there
is nothing to communication.
The KZ0DEM communications group consists of emergency response personnel and
citizens who have specialized skill sets and equipment to communicate needed
information to nearly anyone, anywhere. The KZ0DEM communications system when
completed within Baca County will include four (3) 2 meter (VHF) Repeaters,
(1) 70cm (UHF) Repeater,
and three Packet Node Digipeaters. The KZ0DEM group uses many tools to
integrate their system into other systems around the five states area as
well as throughout the world. The KZ0DEM utilizes Echolink and
IRLP technology as well as HF radios to connect around the world.
